George Minne and Eja Siepman van den Berg share a focus on the human body, with a subdued, introspective approach. Minne, a symbolist, often depicted his figures in vulnerable, introverted poses, as in The Fountain of Kneeling Youths (1898), while Siepman van den Berg adopted a more modern, abstract style, reducing the body to geometric shapes and a timeless aesthetic.
Both artists convey a sense of inner peace, with Minne emphasising emotional expression and spiritual depth, and Siepman van den Berg creating a serene, meditative effect. They share a minimalist approach to form, with Minne reducing figures to symbolic representations, and Siepman van den Berg reducing the body to pure abstraction.
Minne's work has a strong spiritual charge, while Siepman van den Berg approaches the beauty and harmony of the body from a philosophical perspective.
